Lindy Hop Dancers

Lindy Hop

This partner dance first appeared in New York’s African-American community in the 1920–1930s. Lindy Hop evolved in parallel with swing music, and this is the dance most commonly referred to as “swing dance.” But you can find all this on Wikipedia, and we want to tell you how we and our students feel about Lindy Hop.

Lindy Hop is an exciting musical conversation where each partner can show off their personality. In the early 20th century, during the era of big bands, it was danced everywhere, and even featured in newspapers and movies. Today it has regained popularity — wherever you go around the world, you will find people who dance and love Lindy.

Lindy Hop gives you the joy of movement, relaxation, freedom, new acquaintances, atmosphere and much more. It is attractive because it has almost no restrictions. If you like to express yourself, your partner will support you and take part in a dance dialogue.

Lindy has a clear structure and offers almost unlimited possibility to improvise (after about six months); interaction with a partner, creating a small but beautiful story; a sense of unity with the music.

Lindy because it's endless variety, amazing music, freedom and drive. Because there is always humor that is understandable only to two specific people, only at the moment of dancing, and this is magic. This is an opportunity to understand a little bit of the character and the person himself during one melody. This is love.

It is difficult to consciously argue why I love Lindy, because it is subconscious and very personal. But what could be better than dancing to your favorite music?

I've been listening to this music since childhood. It's like air, without which it is impossible to live! )

Lindy! Because you can legally hug handsome men! My skirt is spinning, my head is spinning, and my endorphin is off the scale. And all this musically, in comfort, with a smile. Still, it is better than dragging pies from the refrigerator and absorbing them horizontally.

I love lindy and blues because of jazz and blues music. Each note is special, catchy and begs to be danced. So you have to comply, and it's an interesting quest. For me, music has always been a priority. The less you like music, the less you want to learn to dance, but sometimes there is a sporting interest in getting to know the whole family of dances — for example, balboa and shag.

Lindy is an exciting parallel dimension with an amazing hang out scene. This is an unreal charge of positive emotions, energy and inspiration from music, communication, fooling around and joint creativity. This is when you go home after class or a party with a stupid smile stretching from ear to ear. But one such dose lasts no more than a couple of weeks, so it should be repeated.
